I loved reading this mini essay on Thinking For A Living. Not only is he a designer that likes Detroit techno (like me), his first print job was doing a flyer for a club in Detroit. He goes on to tell about the cock-ups he made and the joys of receiving his first real printed flyer. It really resonates with me as my very first print job was doing a flyer for a techno night. It wasn’t great and all the blacks came back looking almost brownish as I’d only used 100k with nothing else in the mix, but it was a rather exciting feeling getting my first proper job back from the printers. I still get that feeling when I’m expecting something back from print. Something tells me I don’t think that feeling will change any time soon.
