Craig Oldham
I got a rather lovely email from Craig Oldham yesterday telling me I was going to receive one of his 12 in 12 booklets. I haven’t been back to his site in a while but he’s got loads of great stuff on. His typography work is amazing in its brutal simplicity. One thing that does strike me about Craig, even though I’ve never met the chap, though email correspondence and reading his site, he seems like a thoroughly nice chap. You’d think that you could get on with a multitude of designers from lots of different backgrounds, but more often than not, this isn’t the case. Lots of designer types I’ve met have been either up their own arse or quite weird. This doesn’t seem to be the case with Craig though. He really does seem to be the kind of guy you could go and have a pint with after a hard kerning session. If you visit his site you will most likely want to read every page. Not just because of the work, but because of his informal musings and critiques on his own life and work. Some of it’s very funny, especially his Prince page. Every page seems to have a few mini-links to really funny things. More sites like this please!
